The Logbook #8
Welcome to issue 8 of our Newsletter - The Logbook.
In this week’s newsletter, we focus on how establishing the end use intent is critical to the successful outcome of reverse engineering projects and how 3D laser scanning is speeding up reverse engineering .
We continue our discussions around the value of Fusion360 - Fusion 360 from Autodesk is a 3D drafting/design product for mechanical, heavy engineering and manufacturing design . Simple to learn with powerful, intuitive modelling tools it is free for students, start-ups and hobbyists.
It allows one to design directly in 3D and use 3D laser scan mesh files. It is designed to allow for collaboration, design tool paths , do generative design and create simulations for design validation.
Our Podcast conversation discuses integrative thinking which is considered the ability to hold two opposing ideas in one’s head at once and then come up with a new idea that contains elements of each but is superior to both.
Roger Martin, the Podcast guest suggests that Metacognition, empathy, and creativity are the building blocks of integrative thinking and explains that these should be, “The three core principles at the heart of a better decision-making process " and taken together, metacognition, empathy, and creativity have the potential to provide the foundation for richer decision making.”
